Honey by the Numbers

Spring 2023, Course: STEM Accessibility

An educational toy to teach farmers market customers about bees and the honey-making process.

BACKGROUND

When I worked at the Brooklyn Borough Hall Greenmarket selling honey, I was asked a lot of questions. It became clear to me that most people don’t know much about the honey-making process, specifically how much work is involved. Honey by the Numbers is a trivia game where customers guess the missing values in statements like “An average hive has ____ worker bees” and “A bee flaps its wings _____ times per minute.”

MATERIALS
