Under the Sea

Animation using five crocheted frames, pattern made in Google Sheets.

PROCESS

First I made the pattern in my favorite tool for crochet pattern-making, Google Sheets. (View the Google Sheets pattern) Then I crocheted each frame (total of five). I blocked them (submerged in water, pinned to a foam board, and dried them) to get them as close to a uniform size as possible. Then I photographed them and created the looping video.

EXHIBITION & PRESS

The pattern, frames, and final video were included in the exhibition Toolish Behavior at the Clive Davis Gallery in September 2025. It was featured in Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art and Impulse Magazine.
